The second session of the DeCrises WP4 stakeholder workshop: Municipality of Potęgowo
The second part of the DeCrises WP4 stakeholder workshop has started, with the first case-study-specific session dedicated to the Municipality of Potęgowo, Poland.
On 26 May 2026, the Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery, Polish Academy of Sciences (IMP-PAN) brought together 30 representatives of local and regional administration, academia, NGOs and business from the Pomorskie Region to discuss the challenges and opportunities of twin transition in Poland.
This workshop started with a brief introduction of three projects related to the themes of the twin transition - DeCrises, DecarbonDHS and BES - Baltic EnerShift project, delivered by Prof. Adam Cenian, IMP-PAN.
The programme continued with the presentation „Twin transition in practice or how the local communities build energy security through development of RES and digitalisation”. Dawid Litwin, the mayor of the Municipality, addressed the local conditions as well as the RES development including district heating based on biogas cogeneration plant, wind farms and PV installations in Potęgowo.
The next presentation on the agenda focused on the plans for renewable energy acceleration areas in the Pomeranian Voivodeship.
Finally, Dr. Barbara Kijewska, professor at the University of Gdansk, delivered the presentation “The Municipality as an Architect of the Energy Community: Building Acceptance and Turning Resistance into Partnership”, focused on multilevel governance in relation to twin transition.
The case study of the Municipality of Potęgowo demonstrates the real-world capabilities of energy transition within municipalities and its impact on the multi-directional development of local communities.
