The second session of the DeCrises WP4 stakeholder workshop: Riga Neighbourhood Alliance, Latvia

The first DeCrises WP4 stakeholder workshop continued with its third case-study-specific session dedicated to the City of Riga in Latvia, organised by Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU).

Held in July 2026, this session focused on the Riga Neighbourhood Alliance (RNA) that unites 35 of 58 neighborhoods in Riga, aiming to strengthen the role of civil society in city planning and management.

This session began with an introduction of the RNA, as participants had the opportunity to learn more about its history and the key principles on which it was established. Then, in the spotlight of the discussion entered social innovation within RNA, understood as a process of experimentation, learning and exchange of ideas.

Next on the event’s agenda were the main areas of activity of the RNA, as experts delved into the green and digital activities as well as the role of the Alliance as an actor in urban governance.

The meeting concluded with a discussion on the challenges and opportunities for the development of neighbourhood associations in Riga.
